Same Writing Advice Twice in One Day

Posted by Carolyn Haven on September 19, 2011 at 4:45 PM

Howdy Readers, Writers, and Just Plain Curious Folk,

I received basically the same writing advice twice in one day. My editor issued several comments while reviewing the first markup of my story. Nearly everything I edited out she loved, wanted expanded, suggested rewrites, or simply wanted more (if you ignore all the red ink, she didn’t want more of that). Halfway through showing her my "cuts" folder, she grounded/restricted me from using the delete key. "You write, I edit," she said.

A little later, I checked my email and there were fellow online writers discussing the very same matter. Just write the story and worry about all the technical stuff later. Probably among the best advice I've heard.

Happy writing,

Carolyn Haven
