Be nice. 

Be nice or at least extend common courtesy to everyone you encounter.  You have no idea who that person is, who they will become, or how they will impact your life.  Sometimes, people make this seemingly small task difficult.  You can only control your own actions.

Write.

Write your story.  Write the story you want to write, the way you want to write it.  Once the story is written, you can edit it.  The most important step in writing is to write.  Get the story on paper or screen, just get it out of your head and into the written word.  This is actually harder than it sounds, which is why this step is so important.
